Collaboratory for Writing and Research on Culture
An online platform for cultural research.
CWRC, (pronounced "quirk") is an online environment for cultural scholarship. It leverages the power of proven digital technologies and standards to enable collaboration, to share and preserve cultural content and research, and to create a better online knowledge environment.
As a platform for collecting, creating, curating, editing, interlinking, publishing, and preserving diverse cultural materials, CWRC seeks to
- advance, share, and preserve cultural knowledge;
- give voice to under-represented and marginalized individuals, communities, and perspectives, past and present, on the web;
- address colonialism and silences in online archives, and promote truth and reconciliation;
- and work towards a more accessible, equitable, and just knowledge environment within and beyond Canada.
CWRC promotes findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR) research data for scholars and the public, understanding accessibility in a humanities context to mean enabling all to interact with cultural materials, debates, and scholarship online.
It is an instance of the Linked Editing Academic Framework Virtual Research Environment (LEAF-VRE).
