About

The Canadian Writing Research Collaboratory Linked Data site documents the three ontologies developed by CWRC. The site also provides a SPARQL endpoint for querying data using the ontologies, downloadable datasets, guidance on SPARQL usage, and version histories. It is designed to allow data practitioners and researchers to learn, explore, query, and leverage the ontologies and associated linked data. It provides overviews, introductions, and terms and definitions for the following ontologies:

  • CWRC Ontology: Models writers, writing, literary works, biographical and cultural-historical information with a focus on intersectional and feminist literary scholarship.
  • Genre Ontology: Describes forms, media, and genres associated with cultural writing, broadly conceived, extending the Orlando Project’s initial genre taxonomy.
  • II (Illness and Injury) Ontology: Organizes illnesses and injuries for use in the production of biographical data.
